M-Box rides on a hard 2006 dancehall groove with the kind of stripped, street-level energy that suited Xplicit Productions’ style. The lineup keeps it moving: Determine comes in with “Who A Lock The City, ” Frisco Kid fires off “Mad At Dem, ” and Sizzla’s “Girl For Life” gives the set one of its cleaner melodic turns, while Mad Cobra and Red Square lean into the rawer, tougher side. The release also comes with a version cut at the end, and the tracklist doubles up Red Square’s “Gun Man Ting” in edit and raw form, which points to a riddim built for selector use as much as song playback. There are 12 cuts in all, with eight unique artists on the rhythm.
