By 2014, dancehall was deep in its twerk-and-daggering era, and Chaskele Riddim lands right in that pocket with a sharp, party-minded cut from Rebel Liberation Records out of Nairobi. Rebel Liberation was already pushing locally made riddims with artists from across Africa and the Caribbean, and this project shows that broad reach in the cast, from D’Angel’s “Tingisha” to Kemishan’s “Tun Up” and Mr Killa’s “Wine. ” The rhythms and titles lean hard into dance-floor language, while tracks like Militant Degree’s “Twerk” appear in both clean and raw versions, which says a lot about how the producer wanted the riddim to move across clubs and radio. With 16 cuts and a run of names stacked back-to-back, the sequencing feels designed for nonstop juggling rather than a neat, single-artist spotlight.
