2014 was a busy stretch for dancehall riddims out of Zimbabwe, and Stand Firm drops right in that lane with Kritical Beats Clappin Studio steering a tight five-track set. The whole thing has a no-frills, forward-driving feel, and Jusa Dementor’s title cut sets the tone with a stern, rootsy chant over the rhythm, while Dragga’s “Only Gyal Me Need” pushes the project toward the more playful loverman side. Dizzy Dee, Qounfuzed and Tytan keep the accents local and personal, with “Ndaseka Zvangu” and “Chair Yamufundisi” giving the riddim its most memorable moments.
