By 2005, Digital B had this Vanity cut humming with a lean, rootsy sweetness rather than anything flashy, and the small lineup keeps the focus tight: Richie Stephens’ “Conference Table, ” Leroy Smart’s “Calling Calling, ” Half Pint’s “So Many Lovers, ” and Shabba Ranks’ “When You’re Up” all ride the same riddim, with Shabba and Half Pint giving the set its sharpest contrast in style and tone. Bobby Digital’s production has that familiar polished Jamaican pulse, the kind that leaves room for the vocals to carry the weight while the version keeps the groove moving underneath.
