Out of VP’s mid-2000s roots run, True Reflection lands in that sober, prison-era Jah Cure moment when conscious singing was cutting through hardest. The five-cut set keeps the mood focused: Jah Cure’s title track carries the weight, Luciano turns in a strong “Better Man, ” and Anthony B’s “Freedom” pushes the same spiritual pressure from a more militant angle, with Ghost and Qq filling out the picture. Compared with some of the label’s busier riddim packages, this one feels leaner and more deliberate, built around uplift rather than variety for its own sake.
