Unseen Eyes Riddim – Stereophonic Productions

Stereophonic Productions came back in 2008 with a lovers rock-leaning set that sat a little softer than the harder-edged reggae work the Boston outfit had been known for earlier on, and the mood here is all smooth harmonies and easy sway rather than rough attack. Singing Melody’s “Lady” and Tony Curtis’ “Strange Love Affair” do a lot of the heavy lifting, while Courtney John’s “Missing You” adds a sweeter, more wistful touch; behind them, the riddim keeps a steady 82-BPM pulse and a warm, unhurried feel that leaves room for each vocal to sit cleanly in the mix. The five-song EP also includes Mark Messam’s “Promise” and LP Miller’s title cut, and it originally landed on November 3, 2008 as a 19-minute, five-track release.
