Chimney Records’ Tropical Escape Riddim landed in 2012, and it captures the Kingston duo at one of their sharpest points, with Jordan McClure and David “Hizzle” Hayle shaping a bright, melodic reggae juggling that sits comfortably between roots warmth and modern radio polish. The rhythm has a breezy lift to it, with a soft spring in the drums, clean guitar skanks, and a polished, sunlit feel that makes the whole set move with ease rather than brute force.

The vocal cast is stacked with some of the era’s strongest names. Ce’Cile brings a tender, reflective edge on “Life Is So Precious, ” while Christopher Martin’s “Too Big” smooths things out with his easy tenor and pop-sensible phrasing. Chronixx, still in his early rise, gives “Ain’t Know Giving In” a steely, conscious push that already hints at the run he would go on to make. I-Octane’s “What About The Poor” adds urgency and social weight, and Kabaka Pyramid sharpens the lyrical turn on “No Capitalist, ” which fits his hybrid reggae-hip-hop style. Queen Ifrica’s “Lets Get Silly” brings attitude and character, while Romain Virgo’s “Everlasting Love” and Tarrus Riley’s “Gimme Likkle One” give the riddim its sweetest, most melodic stretch.
