Trippple Bounce Riddim – VP Music Group

VP Music Group’s Trippple Bounce Riddim landed in 2009 as another entry in the label’s long-running Riddim Driven catalogue, a series that VP used to package current dancehall energy for clubs, radio, and sound systems. The set runs at a crisp, marching 110 BPM and has that bright, springy bounce built for fast juggling, with the snare snap and bass pattern leaving plenty of room for DJs to work it hard.

The biggest draws are the big-name voices. Vybz Kartel opens with Bicycle and Mr. Officer, two of the sharpest cuts on the rhythm, mixing his clipped delivery with the kind of streetwise humor and bad-man posturing that made him one of dancehall’s defining figures. Aidonia’s Bruk Out pushes the riddim into more overt bashment territory, while Beenie Man’s Whateva Mi Like brings the veteran’s easy command of party talk and hook writing. Elephant Man’s Represent adds his trademark high-energy style, and Mavado’s Hope and Pray gives the rhythm a more measured, darker edge.
