Treasure Riddim (2015) – One Love Music

A cut like Treasure Riddim feels like a small, carefully chosen roots session rather than a bloated various-artists set, with One Love Music lining up five songs around veteran voices and a gentle, easy sway in the production. Anthony Johnson’s “Dont Worry Little Girl” and Jimmy London’s “Un Dying Love” give it that old-school warmth, while Michael Prophet brings the spiritual weight on “Without Jah” and Tenna Star adds a sharper edge with “Wine Of Violence. ” The nicest touch is the only duet here, Bunny Lye Lye and Bucky Jo on “Sitting In The Park, ” which sits neatly inside the arrangement and gives the riddim a little extra colour without crowding it. Issued in 2015, the project keeps to a compact tracklist of five songs, with One Love Music handling the full production.
