Kick It Up Riddim – Bare Fruits Records

By 2015, the one-riddim reggae run was still in full swing, and Bare Fruits Records kept things rooted in conscious roots style with Kick It Up Riddim. The cut that kept turning up around the release was Richie Spice’s “Mirror Mirror, ” a track that sits comfortably alongside Lutan Fyah’s “All Is Well” and Tony Curtis’ “A So Life Go, ” with Righteous Youth and Worm Bass filling out the vocal cast. Bare Fruits later widened the set for a 2016 issue, but the original 2015 version was a tight five-song sequence with a version cut at the end, the kind of ordering that tells you the producer wanted the singers to carry the mood before letting the instrumental speak for itself.
