THE TROD RIDDIM produced by CONSCIOUS PRODUCTIONS 2007
The Trod Overview
In 2007, a roots reggae anthology brought a fresh wave to the scene. It started with a simple idea: create a riddim that carries the true spirit of rocksteady and roots. The people behind this project, Conscious Productions, already had a name for shaping roots and culture music. Their label became known for quality releases that kept the reggae tradition alive. The journey began in the studio, where musicians focused on deep, rolling bass and steady drums. The dub engineer played a big role, giving each track a warm, earthy sound. He used classic mixing techniques, letting the percussion and rhythm shine through. Artists joined in, each bringing their own style. Andy Vernon sang “Rainbow World,” a song that many fans remember for its uplifting message. Chappa Jan delivered “Give Thanks,” showing his smooth vocals. Chuckleberry’s “Rasta No Take Life” added a conscious voice to the mix. Jack Radics, known for his international hit “No Matter” with Shaggy, brought his strong presence to “Drowning Inside.” Conscious Productions also stepped in with their own track, “The Trod,” giving the riddim its name and spirit. When the anthology came out, fans quickly noticed its classic flow. The songs blended together, but each artist stood out. Even today, people talk about that rocksteady sound from 2007. It’s a true roots collection that still lives on.
