Gully Zone Riddim – Digital Conscious

Digital Conscious kept Gully Zone lean and vinyl-minded in 2010, with just four cuts circling a single riddim and no wasted space. The sequence is tight: Gussie Ranks’ “Bully Bwoy” opens the set, Alcapone turns in “Herb Affair, ” Robbie Levi rides in with “War, ” and Kettle Drum Studio closes with the bare riddim version. It’s a small lineup, but that’s part of the appeal, because each vocal gets room to sit against the tough, stripped-back rhythm before the instrumental lands at the end. The release also surfaced as DC10004 on Digital Conscious US, pressed as a 10-inch with the three vocal sides and the base riddim cut.
