A mellow, rootsy swing runs through Uk Flu Riddim, and that’s what gives this 2010 set its pull: it’s a love-leaning one-riddim project with plenty of veteran voices, but no unnecessary fuss. Omar Perry’s “Father Of Creation” sits nicely beside JC Lodge’s “Love Rewind” and Maxie Priest’s “Bonified Love, ” each cut riding the same easy, reflective groove while still keeping its own shape. Dan I’s “Come Back To Love” and Nadirah X’s “Fight For Music” add a sharper edge in the middle of the sequence, and the riddim itself feels like the kind of UK-rooted production that’s more about mood than muscle. Thirteen cuts are listed in all, with Tippie Irie closing things out on “Truth’s And Rights, ” a tidy little finish.
