TEARS RIDDIM produced by ARROWS RECORDS 2007
Tears Overview
In 2007, the Tears Riddim became a major sound in Jamaica’s dancehall scene. This bashment rhythm was often played at street dances, where sound systems would set up and selectors would choose tracks to keep the crowd moving. The rhythm’s heavy bass and catchy melody made it a favorite for both dancers and selectors, showing how important riddims are in sound system culture. ARROWS RECORDS produced the Tears Riddim. This label is known in reggae and dancehall for releasing many popular riddims and singles over the years. Founded in Jamaica, ARROWS RECORDS helped shape the sound of modern dancehall, working with top artists and bringing their music to local and international audiences. The arranger’s role was key in creating the bashment vibe of the Tears Riddim. By blending modern dancehall elements with classic bashment energy, the arranger made sure the rhythm would stand out at any dance. Several well-known artists voiced songs on this riddim. Anthony B delivered “What Would You Do,” showing his powerful style. Daville sang “Crying Over You,” adding his smooth voice—Daville is also known for his hit “Always on My Mind.” I Octane’s “Stab Vampire” brought conscious lyrics; I Octane later released the successful album “Crying To The Nation.” Lukie D performed “I Cry,” and Lutan Fyah voiced “Hungry Mouth,” both adding strong vocals to the project. The Tears Riddim remains a key part of 2007’s dancehall and sound system history.
