SWEAT RIDDIM produced by BLACK SCORPIO
Sweat Overview
In 1999, dancehall parties were full of energy and excitement. One of the main reasons was the street anthem base that powered many hits. This sound was shaped by producer BLACK SCORPIO, also known as Maurice Johnson. He is the founder of the Black Scorpio label, which has been important in Jamaican music since the 1980s. BLACK SCORPIO has helped launch many big names in dancehall and reggae. The Sweat Riddim was a favorite in 1999. It brought together top artists, each bringing their own style. Beenie Man, known for his international success with songs like “Who Am I (Sim Simma),” delivered “Study Me” on this riddim. Bounty Killer & Pinchers teamed up for “Sweat Dem.” Bounty Killer is famous for his deep voice and hits like “Look” and “Living Dangerously,” while Pinchers is known for songs such as “Bandelero.” Chuck Fender, who later became well known for conscious reggae, gave fans “New Gal” on the Sweat Riddim. Hawkeye, recognized for his witty lyrics, contributed “Look At All Those Fassy.” Little Hero, who had success with “God Alone,” performed “Pure Hot Gal.” Other artists like Serial Kid with “Bye And Go” and Zebra with “Furtherer” also added their touch. Fans of 1999 always remember the Sweat Riddim for its fresh sound and powerful line-up.
