Gold Up Music and Cashflow Rinse kept this 2019 cut tight and functional, a six-song dancehall EP that leans on a lean, mid-tempo groove rather than big studio fireworks. The pair of Daine Blaze cuts, “Dream To Reality” and its raw version, sit at the center of the thing, while Maestro Don gets the same clean/raw treatment on “Dem Fake, ” which tells you the label was aiming this at selectors as much as casual listeners. Laden’s “That Day” and Ilements’ “Help Dem Self” add the strongest contrast, with the latter closing things out on a sharper, more conscious note. At just 17 minutes, the riddim doesn’t waste time, and the final Ilements tune leaves the whole set feeling more pointed than its brief running time might suggest.
