Summer Wave Riddim (2021) – Repa Records

Repa Records had Summer Wave Riddim out in June 2021, and the set plays like a warm-weather dancehall juggling with enough bounce to carry both veteran voices and the newer in-house names around the label. The rhythm has that bright, airy feel that suits party records and relationship talk, with a light, road-ready swing rather than a heavy warehouse step.

Mr Lexx opens with No Friend, bringing the sharp, seasoned deejay style that made him a staple from the early 2000s onward. Delly Ranx, who has long worn both artist and producer hats, turns up on Born With It with the kind of easy patter and melodic instinct that has kept him relevant across decades. Macka Diamond adds the most pointed personality on Break Up To Make Up, folding her talkative, swaggering delivery into a song title that already hints at love trouble and back-and-forth tension.

QQ’s Ambitious Lady gives the riddim a female-forward push with a confident, determined tone, while Dwayno’s Party keeps the energy centered on the dance. The label’s own C4 Di Repa is present throughout the second half of the set, with Summer Girl, Vibes, Rebel, Cop Can’t Trap and Hot Pepper giving the project a more local, crew-driven identity. Rasta Biggz and Alkyda help widen the circle, but the strongest pull comes from the mix of established names and Repa’s own voices, which gives Summer Wave Riddim the feel of a summer release with real studio-room chemistry.
