A crisp, trap-leaning dancehall pulse runs through Top Choppa Riddim, with Bragga Phelps Records keeping the arrangement lean and angular rather than overloading it with tricks. The five-track set doesn’t crowd the lanes, so each cut gets room to land: Bully Frass and ShaqStar come in force on “Dem Just A Talk, ” Chriso rides the title cut with a clipped, street-ready stance, and Penny Don’s “Truck Back” adds some of the set’s most immediate swagger. Takeova and Wilwa close the circle from different angles, but it’s Takeova’s “Golden Bwoy” that hangs around longest, sharpening the riddim’s choppa theme with the kind of confidence the whole project is reaching for.
