Jammy’s was deep in its late-’80s dancehall run when Soundclash dropped in 1989, and this one feels less like a broad showcase and more like a straight sound-system dub session aimed at the warzone. Johnny Osbourne’s “My Sound A Say One” and Chaka Demus’ “Bad Sound Man” bring the kind of cut-and-thrust delivery that suits the theme, while Anthony Malvo, Johnny P and Pad Anthony keep the mic pressure high over Jammy’s hard digital groove, all snapped bass, sharp drums and plenty of room for the deejays to spar. The lineup leans heavy on clash talk rather than lover’s rock or crossover polish, which is exactly the point here. The set runs with cuts from Brian and Tony Gold, Bunny General, Daddy Lizard, King Everald and Mikey Melody, nine tracks in all.
