Jah Snowcone’s Sober Crunk Riddim sits a little grittier than the brighter, cheekier dancehall sets he’s known for, leaning into a hard, clipped bounce that suits the title and the era. The draw here is the balance between veterans and sharper-edged young voices: Junior Reid’s “Real Talk” brings the authority, Wayne Wonder’s “I Can Swear” adds a smoother melodic turn, and T. O. K’s “Di World Is Mine” keeps the energy up. Bridgez and Lexxus cut through with the kind of pointed street talk that was carrying a lot of 2007 riddim cycles, while Wesley Diamond’s “Badmind” feels like the most on-the-nose closing jab.
