Sex Appeal Riddim – Chimney Records

Chimney Records came through in 2010 with Sex Appeal Riddim, a breezy, bass-forward dancehall cut that leans hard into the era’s wine-and-dip energy while keeping the arrangement clean and catchy. Aidonia’s “Cyan Done” is the obvious anchor here, especially alongside Elephant Man’s “Steady Wine” and Blak Ryno’s “Wine and Dip, ” which both ride the groove with the kind of slick, party-ready confidence Chimney was known for at the time. There’s a little more polish in this one than some of the label’s rougher street riddims, but that glossy edge never gets in the way of the bounce. Coming after Chimney’s early wave of attention-grabbing productions, Sex Appeal sits neatly in the catalog as one of those compilations that captures the label’s knack for turning a simple, sticky idea into a dancefloor run of tunes.
