By 2008, dancehall was deep into the hard-edged, digital run that favoured stark drum programming and swaggering hooks, and Gangsters Riddim sits right in that pocket. The set is lean, with just four cuts, but the key pull is the pairing of Bugle and Tornado on the title track, where the vocal lines ride over a clipped, tension-heavy pattern with a dark low end. G Mac gets two solo turns, “Turn Me On” and “Protect The Little Ones, ” which gives the riddim a bit more range without breaking its mood. Iceberg’s version keeps the frame tight and dry, all pressure and pulse, with the bass sitting low under a brisk mid-tempo bounce that leaves plenty of space for the vocals to cut through.
