Coming out of Ashanni Records in 2013, Seize Riddim sits in that early-decade dancehall lane where militant titles and party talk share the same hard-edged bounce. Silver Cat’s “Survive It” is the name that jumps out first, with Mikki Ras on “Dun Wid, ” Fyah Paps on “Trample Babylon, ” and Emanuel Stain doubling down with both raw and radio cuts of “A Weh It Gone To. ” Ashanni keeps a hand in the room too, popping up on “If U Wah Know, ” while the whole set is rounded off by the instrumental version and a small but tight cast of nine voices across ten tracks. It feels like a compact label showcase rather than a big crossover push, the kind of riddim Ashanni could tuck neatly alongside the sister Seize/Slow Touch material from the same period and use as a calling card for the catalogue.
