From the 2013 dancehall run, Nuh Shakiness Riddim catches the ear with a lean, uptempo groove that leaves room for voices to cut through rather than crowding them out. Pure Music Production line up a nice cross-section here, and Delly Ranx’s “Questions” sits comfortably beside sharper party talk from Liquid on “Double Brace” and Quick Cook on “Weed Like This, ” while Cutty Corn even gets both clean and raw versions of “Dem No Bad” on the same set. The cast stretches from Baby Boom and Capital D to Gappy Ranks and Xyclone, which gives the riddim a little extra movement without losing its dancehall center. Quick Cook’s entry is the sort you’d keep coming back to, and the whole thing lands with 11 tracks, one of them a tidy double take.
