Saga Riddim (2004) – Delperies Records

Delperies Records came through with Saga Riddim in 2004, a reggae juggling that keeps the energy sharp and the voices varied across ten cuts. Alozade’s “Stalking Me” and Anthony B’s “Hot Too” set the tone early, while Frisco Kid, Roundhead, and the Mega Banton and Mikey Melody combination give the rhythm a more streetwise edge. There’s enough movement in the lineup to keep it from settling into one mood for too long, and the version cut leaves the production space open enough to hear how the riddim locks in underneath each voice. Vybz Kartel’s “Study” is the one that lingers last, a cool closing note that gives the whole sequence a bit of extra bite.
