Reminisce Riddim – Hot Edge Productions

Hot Edge Productions had a tidy little roots set on its hands with Reminisce Riddim, a 2011 six-cut juggling that keeps the focus on songs rather than excess. Lutan Fyah’s My Blessing feels like the anchor here, with that warm, conscious tone meeting the kind of straight-ahead reggae swing Hot Edge was aiming for, while Lukie D’s True Friends and T. O. K’s Don’T Lie add a bit more polish and contrast around the edges. Jah Hem’s Troddin On and Red Rose’s Crime Time help round out the picture, so the riddim never settles into one mood for too long. It’s a compact release, really, just 23 minutes with an instrumental tucked in at the end.
