Quality Time Riddim – Young Vibes Records

2011 was a busy year for straight-ahead reggae one-riddim sets, and Young Vibes Records kept this one tidy with just six cuts carrying the same gentle, romantic pulse. Chris Martin’s “This Year” and Ghost’s “Mr. Right” are the names that jump out first, while Ikaya’s “Can’t Get Oveer You” leans into the heart-on-sleeve side of the project. The riddim itself sits in that easy mid-tempo pocket, with a soft skank, rounded bass line, and enough space for each singer to stretch the hook without crowding the groove. Claudia Edward and D Major keep the tone steady in the middle, and the instrumental version closes it out cleanly, letting the arrangement speak for itself with its unhurried drum pattern and warm, restrained low end.
