Jam 2 Records keeps the Pull Up Riddim in that tight 2008 dancehall pocket where streetwise talk, gunman chatter, and swaggering one-drop phrasing all sit on the same hard-edged groove. Jammy James’ production frame gives the juggling a clipped, kinetic feel, and the line-up does the rest: Vybz Kartel’s “Pitch” and Lady Saw’s “Over Joy” bring the sort of character that cuts straight through, while Tifa, Natalie Storm, and Black Rhyno add sharper, more direct runs that keep the vibe moving. There’s enough variety here to stop it from feeling like a one-note exercise, with Tazz And Oxygen, Shane O, and Fearless each pushing a different angle on the same bruising rhythm. But it’s Kartel’s “Pitch” that leaves the deepest mark, leaning into the riddim’s menace without wasting a bar.
