Propa Ugu Riddim – Various Artists

Propa Ugu lands a little differently from the usual 2007 bashment rush: the riddim leans dreamy and slightly playful, the kind of dancehall cut that leaves room for melody instead of just pressure. Vybz Kartel’s “Love Boat” is the obvious anchor, while Toya’s title track keeps the project’s identity front and center and Harry Toddler’s “Nuh Gals” adds a rougher edge.
