No Id Riddim – Hitcity Records

Hitcity Records came with a leaner, more street-level set on No Id Riddim than the bigger, more overloaded dancehall compilations that were crowding 2011, and that economy suits the tune. The rhythm has a bright, clipped bounce with enough low-end push to keep it moving, while the voicings from Blak Jefe, Chan Dizzy, Chi Ching Ching and Versatile keep the energy pointed straight at party-time chatter and girl-loving chatter. Ajan’s cut gives the riddim its name and its frame, and the short runtime — eight tracks in about 17 minutes, released on June 28, 2011 — keeps the whole thing moving without any dead air. The instrumental closes it out cleanly, leaving the rhythm itself to do the talking.
