Mankind Riddim (2017) – Serengeti Music

Serengeti Music gives the Mankind Riddim a lean, rootsy pulse that feels cut from the classic dub side of reggae rather than anything overly polished. Released in 2017 out of Turin, the project keeps the focus tight with four vocal cuts, and that economy works in its favour: Galas Dan and Suns of Dub open with “Mankind Solidarity” featuring A-Threes, while Jalifa’s “Ini Dread” and Roots By Nature’s “Taken” push the same instrumental into more meditative territory before Saah Karim closes with the tougher “Revolution. ” The riddim’s live-feeling bass and skanking guitar line nod to old Rockers All Stars-style arrangements, but the delivery stays current and uncluttered. It’s the kind of mid-2010s roots release that captured how European producers were keeping the foundation style moving without crowding the arrangement.
