Love Uprising Riddim – Treasure Isle

1969’s Love Uprising Riddim comes out of Duke Reid’s Treasure Isle camp, with The Jamaicans’ Love Uprising and U Roy’s Treasure Isle Skank carrying the set. It sits right in the late-rocksteady era that Treasure Isle helped define, and the warm Bond Street sound is part of what gives these cuts their character. U Roy was still shaping the deejay style around this period, and this release catches that transition in motion with a compact two-track lineup and a strong link between singer and toasting version.
