I’ll Be Lonely Riddim (2002) – Joe Frasier

In Jamaica’s early-2000s roots-and-lovers crossover lane, Joe Frasier’s I’ll Be Lonely Riddim leans into a warm, rolling groove with just enough weight in the bass to keep it grounded while the melody stays sweet and open. Freddie McGregor’s “A Prayer” and George Nooks’ “Don’t Give Up” carry the emotional core, each singer leaning into that patient, uplifted phrasing Frasier’s productions often suit, while Nadine Sutherland’s “I Found Love” adds a lighter, more romantic touch. The set also includes Nambo’s instrumental cut, which leaves the riddim to speak for itself.
