    Knockout Riddim - Greensleeves Records

Greensleeves leaned on the Stone Cold camp for Knockout, and the 2003 album sits right in the label’s rhythm-series peak. The cuts were produced by Mark Hudson and Marvin Williams for Stone Cold, with the package issued as Greensleeves Rhythm Album #36. The sound is sharp, digital and tension-heavy, with hard-snapping drums, a stalking bassline and enough empty space for the deejays to jab their lines through the beat. It has that early-2000s dancehall urgency: lean, aggressive and made for juggling.

The lineup is one of those Greensleeves roll calls that tells you the riddim was moving in the street. Beenie Man comes in with “Haters, ” Bounty Killer cuts through with “Musical Works, ” Buju Banton gives “Five O” extra weight, and Capleton turns “Burn Them Out” into straight confrontation. Elephant Man, Vybz Kartel, Ward 21, Wayne Marshall, Lexxus and Merciless all take their own lane on the rhythm, while Tanya Stephens adds a sharper female presence with “Point Pon A Man. ”

The standout feature is how the riddim can handle both singjay grit and full-deejay attack without losing its bite. Bling Dawg and Buccaneer’s “Dem Bwoy Deh” brings clash energy, Lady G’s “No Tek Talk” adds a direct lyrical stance, and Determine’s “Party Time Again” gives the project a lighter pulse without softening the production. It is the kind of riddim that worked because the track was plain ruthless and the voices on top were all coming from different angles.
