Knockings Riddim – Daseca Productions

Daseca were still in sharp form on Knockings Riddim, a 2011 dancehall set that leans on that trademark tight, percussive swing and a dark, rubbery bass line rather than any big melodic flourish. The strongest cuts come from the pairings and contrasts: Di Genius and Chino’s “Lowe Wi” has that brotherly chemistry and an easy bounce, Laden’s “You and I” softens the edge a little, and Serani’s “Evil Heart” comes in twice, clean and raw, giving the riddim a tougher, more street-facing bite. It’s a compact release, but that was part of the early-2010s dancehall moment Daseca knew well, when a few well-placed voices could carry a whole rhythm and turn a lean instrumental into something that stuck.
