Big Jeans Records pulls together a busy 2004 dancehall juggling on Check It Back Riddim, with Eric Delisser and Ricky “Mad Man” Myrie behind the production. The project sits in that sharp, party-minded early-2000s lane: bright, punchy, and built for instant pull-up moments rather than murky bass pressure. The version track had enough bounce to keep selectors moving, and the whole thing plays like a soundclash-ready package with hooks arriving fast and leaving just as quickly.
The lineup is stacked with names that mattered in the era. Bounty Killer anchors the set with Check It Back, while Assassin brings Move And Go Weh, Elephant Man fires off Party All Night, and Lady Saw turns Been So Long into a sly, adult-minded dance tune. Mr. Easy’s When I Am Making Love and Lexxus’s Oh Oh keep the riddim in a cheeky, lovers-rock-adjacent space, while Future Troubles goes direct with Feeling Horny. Tanto Metro and Devonte join Patchy on Join The Party, and other cuts from Ward 21, Vybz Kartel, New Kidz, Rally Bop, Sugar Bear, Syren, Red Fox, and Chicken round out a release that was spread widely across the Jamaican dancehall circuit.
What makes Check It Back work is the balance between big-name energy and the riddim’s light, mobile feel. It has the kind of crisp, upbeat swing that gives deejays room to spit fast, flirt, and spar without crowding the groove.
