Jehovah Riddim – Jahlight Records

Jahlight leans into a warm, devotional reggae groove here, the kind of rootsy instrumental bed that leaves plenty of room for harmony-rich voices and straight-ahead message tunes. Jehovah Riddim gathers a wide cast — Righteous, Virtuous, Silent Sah, Kwesi Fontinelle, Justice and others — and the strongest cuts play like earnest praise songs rather than flashy one-drop exercises, with “Amazing Grace, ” “All I Need Is You” and “One God” giving the project its clearest shape. Jahlight Records had already been working the Trinidad side of the roots scene with earlier productions like PassOver, and this 2014 set feels cut from that same cloth: conscious, melodic, and aimed squarely at the church-and-rhythm side of reggae. It sits neatly in the label’s catalogue as one of those spiritually minded juggling sets that keeps the emphasis on lyrics, vocal control and steady live-band feel.
