GRAVITY RIDDIM produced by SIZE 8 PRODUCTIONS 2000
Gravity Overview
At the start of the 2000s, dancehall was changing fast. Bashment rhythms were everywhere, and new yard session tapes set the mood for parties and street dances. One tape that really made a mark was built on the Gravity Riddim. This sound came from SIZE 8 PRODUCTIONS, a label known for pushing dancehall forward in the late 1990s and early 2000s. SIZE 8 PRODUCTIONS worked with many top DJs and helped bring new energy to the scene. The Gravity Riddim tape featured some strong voices. Alozade, known for his raw style, brought the track “Maggle.” Chico, who would later work with Shaggy on “Church Heathen,” delivered “Big Up.” Crissy D, famous for her vocals on “Girls Dem Sugar” with Beenie Man, gave fans “Soldier Boy.” Elephant Man, who was already building his reputation with songs like “Log On,” added the energetic “Again.” G Money kept the dance going with “Spray.” Other artists on the tape included General Degree with “Gravity,” Hawkeye with “Oil Of Olay,” and Lady G with “Step Aside.” Each artist brought their own style, but together they made the riddim stand out. This yard session tape helped shape the sound of dancehall in 2000 and is still remembered by fans today.
