Goldcup Records’ Golden Riddim sits in that sturdy late-2010s roots-reggae lane where the production does a lot of the talking, and this one leans into warm, melodic guitar and a steady, easy roll rather than any heavy dubwise drama. Sizzla’s “Be My Girl” gives the set its strongest pull with that familiar mix of tenderness and fire, while Teflon’s “Better Than The Rest” keeps the mood firm and devotional without getting too polished. The rest of the lineup stretches nicely from Khari Kill’s “No Cocaine” to Lion D’s “Inna Babylon, ” so the riddim never feels locked to one mood for too long. Goldcup packed in 18 cuts here, which makes this feel more like a proper compilation than a quick one-off, and it landed in 2018, right in the middle of a run when conscious reggae compilations were still carrying serious weight.
