Goldcup Records kept things rootsy on Ready Right Now Riddim, but there’s a bright, unhurried feel to it that lets the singers carry the weight. The set runs six tracks deep, with Raphael’s “Black And White” and Jah Nyne featuring Ras Lijah on “Peace And Love” giving the clearest sense of the mood: conscious, easygoing, and more message-driven than flashy. Avaran’s “I Never Knew” and Tenna Star’s “Jah Give Us Life” sit nicely in that same lane, while Mandinka Warrior’s “Love Is The Way” brings the title’s sentiment into sharper focus. Released in 2012, it sits in that early-2010s stretch when a lot of independent reggae productions were keeping the format lean and vocal-focused, and this one does exactly that without overcomplicating the formula.
