God Father Overview

In 2006, the God Father Riddim roots anthology appeared in Jamaica, bringing a fresh roots reggae sound to the year’s music scene. The project featured several respected artists. Gyptian performed “Stop The Fussing And Fighting,” showing the smooth vocal style he became known for, especially after his later international hit “Hold You” in 2010. I Kaine contributed the spiritual track “Most High,” while Jah Mason offered “Give Praises,” adding his conscious lyrics to the mix. Pinchers, a veteran singer best known for his classic hit “Bandelero,” delivered “Hallilujah.” Singer J, who has worked with top producers in reggae and dancehall, sang “Mama I Care.” The anthology also included Sniper with “Don’t Hate Me” and a version track titled “God Father.” The riddim was produced by PLEASURE TIME PRODUCTIONS, a label recognized for roots and culture reggae releases. The label has worked with both established and rising artists in Jamaica, helping to keep traditional reggae rhythms alive during a time when dancehall was dominant.
