Freddy Krueger Riddim – Gaza Prince/Vendetta Records

Vendetta Records and Gaza Prince came with a cold, gunman-heavy slice of 2013 dancehall here, and the title alone tells you the mood: Freddy Krueger Riddim is all menace, with Deablo’s “When Badman A Step, ” Dwayno’s “Anybwoy Diss Dead, ” and Masicka’s sharp “Seh Dem Bad” pushing the war-talk hard over the juggling. The whole thing runs lean at eight tracks and barely over 22 minutes, which suits the tension; there’s no wasted space, just quick-fire verses from King Asar, Spoonaz, Stamma Gramma, and Teff U Deff before the version cut closes it out. Gaza Prince’s name keeps coming up on those early-2010s Vendetta sides, and this one has that raw, street-corner edge that made those releases hit. Small but nasty.
