Fire Riddim (2015) – Zion Train

Out of the UK roots-dub camp, Zion Train’s Fire Riddim lands with that live-act weight they’ve been refining for decades, and in 2015 it felt like a neat bridge between their sound system instincts and a younger reggae frontline. Jah9’s “Fire” is the obvious anchor, all conscious heat and herbal reasoning, while Micah Shemaiah’s “Rasta Live” keeps the pressure up and Sis Awa’s “I And I Shall Rise” adds a cleaner, uplifted edge before Addis Pablo closes things out with “Far East Rasta, ” where the melodica line nods straight back to his father’s lineage. The riddim itself leans rockers-dub, heavy on horns and space, which suits Zion Train’s catalogue: this is the kind of release where the production feels live, physical, and properly voiced rather than polished into the background.
