Fiber Glass Riddim (2001) – Shocking Vibes

Shocking Vibes’ Fiber Glass Riddim lands in that early-2000s Kingston pocket where dancehall was getting sharper, leaner, and a little more ruthless in the mix. The 12-cut set moves from Briggy Benz’s “I Can See” and Mr Lex’s “No Hail Me” into a run that keeps the energy tense and streetwise, with Sizzla’s “Lion Paw” and Ward 21’s “Long Distance” giving the rhythm its most memorable edge. Patrick Roberts’ Shocking Vibes imprint was already a familiar name by then, and this one carries that same no-frills studio confidence: hard drums, clipped accents, and enough room for each deejay to cut through cleanly. The final stretch gets especially lively, but Vybz Kartel and Ricoshay’s “Complicated” is the cut that leaves the sharpest aftertaste.
