Dung A Town Overview
In 2008, dancehall music was loud and lively in Jamaica. The Dung A Town Riddim became one of the hottest bashment rhythms of the year. Crafted by a skilled arranger known for shaping hard-hitting bashment beats, this rhythm started its journey in the studio with a raw, pulsing drum line and catchy hooks. The producer behind it all was BIG YARD RECORDS, a respected label in Jamaican music. Founded by Robert Livingston, BIG YARD is well-known for helping launch Shaggy’s Grammy-winning career and has produced hits for several major artists. Their unique sound often blends traditional reggae with modern dancehall energy, making them a powerful name in the industry. When Dung A Town Riddim was ready, top artists quickly recorded on it. Kiprich jumped on the track with “Gal Clown,” delivering clever lyrics and his well-known playful style. Kiprich is famous for his witty clash songs and has made his mark with hits like “Telephone Ting.” Hawkeye joined next, voicing “Dem Badmind,” keeping up his reputation for smooth delivery and sharp observations about street life. Macka Diamond added her strong voice to “Them No Qualify.” Macka Diamond had already established herself as a leading female deejay, known for tracks like “Dye Dye” and winning Female DJ of the Year at the 2007 EME Awards. From creation to release, Dung A Town Riddim spread across parties and airwaves. Each artist gave their own flavor to the beat, helping make 2008 a memorable year in dancehall music history.
