And The Sun Come Dung leans into a tight one-drop pulse, the kind that leaves enough air for the horns and the vocals to breathe. Sherkhan, the French-born Tiger Records producer based in Kingston, wrote, played, produced and mixed the riddim himself, with Sheldon “Saxy” Palmer adding the saxophone, and that hands-on approach gives Diana Rutherford’s “Beware” a clean, intimate edge beside Terry Ganzie’s rougher “I’m Not The One. ” Zeno’s “When The Sun Shine Dung” and Zamunda’s “Let Me Love You” keep the set moving with the same sunlit, rootsy feel, and Ganzie’s cut is the one that digs in deepest. A small, tidy 2012 four-tracker, but it leaves its mark.
