DUET RIDDIM produced by NOTNICE RECORDS 2014
Duet Overview
The street anthem base of the Duet Riddim started in the studio with a focus on heavy, driving basslines. The sound engineer worked closely with the producer to make sure the beats would hit hard at every sound clash. The creative direction was clear: mix classic dancehall elements with fresh twists, making sure the riddim would stand out in 2014. NOTNICE RECORDS led the project. The label, founded by producer Notnice, is known for shaping modern dancehall. Notnice has produced hits for many top artists and played a big part in launching careers, especially with works like Vybz Kartel’s “Kingston Story.” By 2014, NOTNICE RECORDS was already respected for high-quality productions and for pushing dancehall forward. On the Duet Riddim, each artist brought their own style. Alkaline delivered “Lonely,” adding his signature sound and energy. Alkaline is known for his bold lyrics and unique image, and he made history in 2016 as the youngest Jamaican artist to top Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart with “New Level Unlocked.” D’Angel followed with “Im Yours,” showing her strong vocals and confident delivery. D’Angel is recognized for her hit “Stronger,” and she’s respected for her long career in dancehall and reggae. The project also featured Notnice Records with the “Duet Riddim Instrumental.” This track highlighted the riddim’s catchy horn riffs and bouncing rhythm, letting the music shine on its own. In 2014, the Duet Riddim proved that yard studios could still set trends and keep the dancehall scene alive. The riddim’s street anthem base kept speakers rumbling and fans excited across Jamaica.
