Dub Play It Riddim – Kirkledove Records

By 2017, reggae riddims were leaning hard into militant roots spacing and crisp one-drop arrangements, and Dub Play It Riddim sits right in that pocket with a 12-track run from Kirkledove Records. Agent Sasco’s “Prevail” and Anthony B’s “Good Girl” give it immediate weight, while Sanjay’s “Bad Indian” closes the set with a sharper dancehall edge. Bryan Art was already known for writing for some of the genre’s bigger names before stepping out more firmly as a solo voice, and his “All Bout You” fits the riddim’s reflective side nicely. The sequencing moves like a proper juggling set, keeping the heavier cuts and softer singers in conversation rather than piling all the gunman energy up front, which makes the whole thing feel planned for selectors as much as for casual listening.
