Free Willy Music keeps Drone Riddim in that mid-2010s dancehall pocket where the drums hit clean, the bassline stays rubbery, and the voicings do most of the talking. Released in 2016 and issued digitally through Free Willy Music, the juggling runs twelve tracks deep with a proper spread of veterans and younger voices.
The big-name pull is strong. Admiral Bailey opens with “Feel Like Tur, ” while Beenie Man’s “Gyal Every Weh” gives the riddim its most immediate party signal. Lady Saw’s “Gyal” sharpens the female counterpoint, and Bugle’s “Caah Help Mi” adds the more reflective, conscience-driven edge he is known for. I-Octane’s “Party All Nite” pushes the set back toward the dance, with his usual singjay smoothness sitting neatly over the rhythm. Iyara and Bling Dawg keep the energy in the street lane, while Blakkman’s “Gyal Dem Round” appears in both raw and clean versions, which says a lot about how radio-ready the tune was meant to be.
New Kidz HD and K’Queens widen the cast, giving the riddim a little more breadth than a standard star-heavy juggling. The whole project has that practical dancehall feel: built for selectors, built for rotation, and built around a rhythm that can carry both slackness and message without losing momentum.
