Di Realest Acoustic Riddim – Real Squad

Back in January 2019, when dancehall was still leaning hard into lean, bare-bones riddims and quick-hit digital drops, Real Squad came through with Di Realest Acoustic Riddim, a six-song set that keeps the focus on voice and cadence rather than heavy studio ornament. Demarco’s “Not For Long” and Wayne Wonder’s “Where Do We Go” are the obvious anchors, while Patexx’s “Stronger” and Badda General’s “Bread Winner” keep the energy moving with direct, singjay-style writing over a stripped acoustic pulse. ZJ Liquid teams with Badda General on “Not Giving Up, ” which adds a little extra grit to the line-up without crowding the arrangement, and Iranimoo closes it out with “Legal. ” Released on January 25, 2019, the project runs six tracks and clocks in at 18 minutes.
